I stumbled across Hords Creek Lake on TPWD website and drove over there last weekend. The lake is really low, but very similar to lakes I have fished in the past. I am curious if anyone has any experience on this little lake and could offer any advice. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

There really are some big fish in that little lake. The best place to fish is the riprap on the dam. Use a brown or pumpkin jig. It's a great white spinnerbait lake when it has some water in it. It's really sad now though.... and that's after it caught some water from a couple of rains. The water that flows out of it, when full, runs into our flood control lake. Our lake was built in the 50's and had never been dry, until this year.

Haven't fished it in a couple years, do to being so low. When it was up the salt cedars always produced for me. Squarebills on the rocks and deep cranks down the dam always produced some nice fish. Good luck and let us know how you do.

I was in Coleman a couple of years ago for a funeral and drove out to Hords Creek for an hour or so. It was about this time of year. I went to the dam and walked all around the bank throwing several baits. The one that worked and produced two 4-pounders within 4 casts was a pink senko. No lie. The only time in my life I have ever used a pink bait of any kind, and I caught two nice ones on it.

I caught them right by the big control station/water outlet tower(or whatever that thing is) at the dam.
