Does anyone know if the Pro Max is just a higher reving Opti?

I saw a '00 cobra for sale and it has a Pro Max 225 on it, sounds good unless it is related to the Opti, then I think I would pass

Tight Lines!

The ProMax 225 is not an Optimax. It is a 2.5L block EFI that revs to 7800 rpms. It is completely different than any stock Merc Opti or EFI. It wails, but it is costly and loud. Neat sound though if you like running fast. Being only a 2.5L block, the hole shot probably isn't as good as a 3.0L Opti 225, but it does come on strong. It is also a very light motor.
