I have a friend who is looking to buy a boat for he and his wife. He already has his mind made up about getting one of these two and he needs some help. He is the type that loves to fish but also is a very social person, He mentions actually getting one of those outdoor cookers that bolt to the rail. If some of you out there that maybe have experience with one or the other and can give your opinions I would pass them on. My tendency would be towards one that actually had an aluminum hull under it as opposed to the pontoons. He has looked at Bass Pro and they are trying to sell him the pontoon one but with only a 60hp Merc on it. My experience has been that you always want to put the maximum rated motor that a boat will handle or you will regret it later. Any other brands or ideas as to hull type, horsepower, and any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cliff Taft

I've been on deck boats and pontoon boats and I guess it would depend entirely on what you wanted to do. Personally, if money were not a concern and I had a place to dock it, I would go with the deck boat. If I were going to beach it a lot, I would go with the pontoon boat. Agree with putting a good sized motor on it. I don't think there is any need for anything more than about a 90 on a pontoon. I have a friend that has a 60 etec on a 20 ft pontoon and it goes just fine, although I think he wishes he would have went for a 22 instead. That being said, I think a tritoon is probably the better compromise between the two.

Michael,
My boat is doing great. It still looks like a new boat. I am happy to reccomend you and your guys to anyone needing fiberglass work . My only regret was that I didn't take any before and after pictures.

I went to several boat shows this last winter. There is nothing that can compare dollar for dollar like the 22FT or 19,4" FT Lowe Suncruiser Tahiti deck boat, All aluminum hull. There has to be more than 50% more storage space than any other deck or pontoon boat, it also has 2 live wells, and 23V trolling motor. 101 inch beam and will sit at least 10 people. I got a 140hp Johnson 4 stroke. It is very quite and will do about 37 mile a hour. I would be more than glad to share more info it anybody wants to ask me any questions about it. I kinda sound like Im a lowe dealer doesnt it? NO! Im just a die hard striper fisherman at Texoma Lake. I have a place close to the water and I come down to the lake at least twice a month. The place I bought the boat at saved me at least 3K from the lowe dealership prices Dallas. If you ever look at one yall will see what I am talking about. Fun and Sun boat dealer carry's them around the Dallas Fort Worth area.Their just too high on there prices.
You can go the lowe web site to look at the lowe Tahiti deck boats. The standard package comes with a 150 merc. My buddy at the lake has got a 19,4' suncruiser Tahiti. His will do about 45 MPH
Take care. JOE
