Fished today with a friend in his boat. Had a great time and the fish were active. Got on the water about 10 AM and got into them on the first stop. That slowed some and found another place where they were stacked up pretty good. Three different spots and caught fish on all of them. At first, the conditions were perfect (low wind and cloud cover). We had 65 on the clicker and then the wind got up some and we could not find the fish after that. I was field testing Flies-by-Night's new slab design with great results. They wanted the slab mostly and one would hit the fly at times even with a few doubles. The water is cooling off now. The temperature today was a cool 48 degrees. Hope this bite continues a while longer. A slow presentation or no movement at all is what paid off today. His GPS was not working well today and it would have been a poor day except for the Navionics iphone app. It took us directly to the fish all morning. Can not fish tomorrow so it will be Tuesday before Lewisville gets tested. I am afraid it will not be as good as Grapevine. Two blacks also hit our baits today, but the rest were nice sized whites. His Yamaha probably burned about a gallon of fuel. The fish were on humps in 25-30 feet of water. We did not get more than a mile from the Katies Woods boat ramp.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
