Well I'm going out to fish Monday and plug in the lights and nothing happens &^%$^#@, so I jiggle the four prong connection and it flickers a couple of times. Then nothing. I step on the brakes and I do have brake lights so off I go trusting my luck that early in the morning and didn't get stopped. I have changed the wiring to the four prong, changed the four prong on the truck, checked for cracked or torn wires, none, checked the fuses and retapped the ground. while all this, and now I only have one brake light working that wasn't working before. Is there some fuse or relay somewhere on the truck I'm missing or the ground or what. I am at a loss Please Help from somebody or I need something cheap, My wife isn't going to understand any more money going into what she calls the "money pit". The trailer is a 1990 tracker. A Big Thanks to anyone that can help JB

take a volt meter and check to see if you are getting voltage to the plug, if you are start tracing the wiring threw the trailer with the voltmeter.
If no voltage at the plug work back up threw the vehicle.
Buy a old Jeep and the wife will no longer think the boat is the "Money Pit" she'll be glad when you are just working on the boat.

Yes, the ground is VERY important. I just finsihed rewiring the lights on my old Tracker trailer and the problem that took me the longest to isolate and solve was the ground, in particular at the at the lights themselves. Make sure the mounting bolts on the light fixture are grounded to the trailer frame. I thought mine were but it ended up taking some work with a wire brush before I got a good ground (test with Ohm meter). After 15 minutes with the wire brush, and some anti-corrosion battery terminal spray, my lights work perfectly again. Don't bother wasting money on the LED lights, the cheapo $7 work just fine once you get the wiring staightened out and a GOOD ground at the lights and at the plug. At the plug end, make sure the ground wires are properly connected- the trailer one to the trailer frame and the tow vehicle ground wire to the bumper or something similar. I use the screw to the rear license plate light on my truck. An inexpensive electrical tester/multimeter of some type to check that you have a good connection is essential. The $10 analog kind works just fine. Good luck!

All the information is great, Thanks. I have gone and checked the truck fuses and the trailer fuse was blown, know every time I replace it, it works, the plug is reading 12.50. After plugging it back into the trailer it blows again. I am going to rewire the trailer, any ideas of doing this or how do I test the grounds to all the lights.

if the fuse blows every time you plug it in. there are 2 things you can do. if the fuse is a round cylinder fuse you can wrap foil around the fuse and put the fuse back in. or you can rewire the trailer, because you have a short somewhere. the first way is the redneck way. the second way is the way to do it.
