I live right next to Britton park and have yet to try the creek. I've had a few guys down here tell me they kill the crappie in the spring there. Does anyone know if they are up there now? If so I'm heading down on Sunday.

The way to communicate with the fish is to drop them a line.
To argue on a fishing boat is to have de bait.

Went out there today after 3... First time i actually had enough time off to fish..... Anyways it was a slow day... Soon as the sun went down it picked up well and fast... Between me and a dude i met down there we pulled in 4 keepers for it being slow throughout the evening i caught a total of 2.. He caught about 4...the bite seemed to be on for 30 or 45 mins... That was only in one location of the whole creek... I had minnows and shad with me... Only jigs were bringing them in... Sunday ill cover alot more area... Was kinda my first time ever crappie fishing in the winter... Usually i fish in spring/spawn...so winter crappie does exist good as in jigging for crappie, thats for sure.... Now ill be there alot more often... Didnt see hogs or deer or alligators... Heard lots of coyotes.. All the fishers i ran by were friendly folks...

Back in the day we ventured to the 287 creek on Joe Poole as it was know to me. 14 degrees and snow on the ground, walked in about mile to find a log jamb and a huge briar tangle that had fallin into the creek right beside the log jamb. The creek was solid ice and we had to find big arse rocks to bust the ice in the creek to fish. Once we had a coupla holes made the fishing was on! We'd drop a jig down into the briar next to the bank and Wham! A limit took about 15 minutes per guy and their were at least 6 fellas lined up behind us to get some of the action. A big ol fire was built to keep everyone warm as they waited or were ready to hike out and high fived everyone for the next fish coming out. It was one the greatest fishing experiences I've ever had other than a creek down on Navarro Mills.
