This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever.  I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing

Some Academys have the Zebco Omega z03 combo on clearance for $45! the reel runs $69.99 by itself......

Some Academys have the Zebco Omega z03 combo on clearance for $45! the reel runs $69.99 by itself...... Actually, they had another markdown on those last week ... now $34.88 if you can find them. I grabbed two for gifts. Crazy good price! Also, if you were looking for a lighter reel, Academy has marked down the Zebco 11 Platinum version reels down to $4.88 (again, if you can find them).

I had a Zebco Omega (on the advice from others) for one trip and it went back. Heavy, twisted the line into knots, poor drag, and sloooow retrieve. Almost any Daiwa closed face spinning reel is better IMHO

Have any of yall tried the 33 all metal platnuim? I haven't tried the 33 Platinum, but I did buy quite a few of the Platinum 11's a couple of weeks ago on clearance at Academy for $4.88. Let me say, I have used 33's since my youth and IMHO, the current base model 33's are junk and I had assumed that the platinum's were just the same reel in a "pretty package". But at $4.88 I was willing to take a chance. Glad I did ... the Platinum's (at least the 11's) are much better reels than the current base models ... Actually quality (at least initial impressions) seems to be closer to the Omega than the base model Zebcos. How they work and hold up long term ... we'll have to see.
