I would like to know if anyone has ever disconnected the auto oil system on a '98 Johnson 200 Ocean Runner and if it is a fairly easy chore?
Thanks in advance,
WWH

Here's what you do unplug harness going to VRO it is a four wire plug purple, gray, black, tan and tape up the male end connected to the main engine harness and tie wrap pump harness. Then remove the oil hose it connects to the fitting on the outer nipple on pump there should be a yellow clip with a rubber cap remove rubber cap and plug the nipple with the rubber cap and tie wrap. Then you can eithr take the yellow clip and plug up the hose or remove the entire oil tank and hose assemble you will also need to reme the wiring harness that runs from the oil tank, it is a two wire harness tan and black Then start mixing your oil and gas one pint of oil to every 6 gallons of fuel That's it ...OPTI

Opti, I really appreciate the information you have given. It sounds like you have done this a time or two...I had one other question, Will this affect any of the warning sensors on the unit and/or gages such as temp, low oil, etc.? The reason why I am asking is I am running Faria gages w/ the lighted warning or system check in the tach. banana

Your help is greatly appreciated,
WWH

If you burn gas with alcohol in it, and I think we all do now, the alcohol attracts water and it separates out the oil in the tank. It does not mix in well even with agitation. It will eventually cause your engine to run lean on oil and burn it up. Install a water-separating fuel filter and change it regularly - OMC makes one, it is about as big as the oil filter on a truck, you can mount it where you can access it easily (unlike Duramax fuel filters) and it may save your engine. Can't hurt. They may even make one now with a drain at the bottom. This would be in addition to the fuel filter on the engine.
