I thought someone would enjoy some pics of a fiberglass rod i just finished for my son. This is a rod built on a batson e glass Spg 720 one piece blank, cut and spigot ferrules shaped and installed from an old solid glass zebco spin rod. I turned the little grip like he likes it and installed a little fighting butt which serves no purpose other than to keep the reel out of the dirt when stringing it up. This little rod was built for less than $40 in blank, reelseat, guides, cork rings, etc. They cast very well; better than you would think from a $15 dollar fiberglass blank. If you ever want to try your hand at rod building, these little blanks are a good inexpensive blank to begin the learning curve.

I've got my hands on 3 or 4 of the little reels; they are almost indestructible. not so long ago you could pick one up for $10-$12 bucks; those deals are hard to find now-p-

batson e glass Spg 720 one piece

OK, a spinning blank, not a fly blank: http://www.batsonenterprises.com/bass-spin .

What line weights does the 720 cast well?

Wonder what range of line weights the SPG842 GB 7'0" 1 6-12lbs 1/8-1/2oz 0.500 6.0 Mod would handle?
