ok the 225 thats on my new (to me) boat ran great for the most part the first 2 times i used it. first and second time it seemed to run a little rough at idle when shited into gear but would pick back up after about 15 o 20 seconds and run fine. the second time i used it in a tournament and did a lot of running around all day, ran great all day but towards the end of the day i now noticed that it was idling rough nad did cut out on me once or twice when shifted into gear. today i changed the water pump and took it to the local lake to make sure everything was still running fine. when first started it was running ok i think because of how it idles faster when its cold. once it warmed up i could barley get it to idle. actually had a pretty hard time getting back to the ramp because it would die every time i shifted it into gear. once i get it into gear and get going it runs fine but it pretty much wont idle and dies after about 10-30 seconds if i dont give it some gas to keep it running. after i left the lake i changed teh fuel filter and spark plugs but didnt make a difference. yall have any ideas what might have cuased it to not idle anymore?

Could be a simple tps adjustment or some thing a lot more. It needs to be checked out. How does it run at WOT.

runs great wide open and all through the power range, its just the idling thats bad. once its a couple hundred rpm above idle speed theres no problem at all. kind of seems like its flooding or running to rich. i thought maybe it was a fuel starvation problem so i tried to give the ball a squeeze and that will shut it down right away. somokes a lot too while idling but as soon as you bring it up a couple hundred rpm the smoke goes away. fuel lines are going to be checked today.

Your manual fuel pump diaphrams need replaced would be my first guess.

It smoking a lot at idle also indicates an injector not closing properly causing one or more cylinders to flood. That would account for the poor idle but still run on top end. But that is not something that Sea Foam or Injector Cleaner will take care of without the risk of burning out a piston. The engine needs the hands of a professional.

If it dies when you squeeze the bulb that would indicate a bad fuel pump diaphragm It's flooding it

The ECU gives off a signal to the injector telling it to open wider or narrower. The injector probably is not closing or opening right.

update the fuel pump did not fix it, while it improved the idle out of the water once it was in the water it acted the same. ended up finding a broken reed. once i fixed that she runs perfectly fine now.

Most of those are fiber reeds. Good catch, have been seeing a lot of broken and cracked fiber reeds. Do`nt know why I did`nt suggest that you check them.
