Got to get new tires for my Expedition (2WD) and there are BF Goodrich's (275/60/17) on it now. My tire shop is wanting me to switch to Toyo Proxies and I don't know anything about them. They are a sport truck tire and I am concerned about the tread looking to street like.

Does anyone have them and do they hook up on a wet ramp? Don't want to buy them and then have to have someone pull me and the boat out everytime I go to the lake.

Personally, I would stick with what you have now. BF Goodrich to me has always been a good tire and if they are working for you then I see no reason to switch. I have never heard of the other brand but I don,t buy tires every day neither. My .02 cents

You need - Michelin Cross Terrian SUV Tires..
No slip on the Ramp, They will give you about 60K miles, and they are smooth on the highway..

Toyo Proxie - What are those.

Go to tirerack.com see what the owners of each tire has to say about them. I will be installaing bridgestone dueler at revos when my tire finally give out. Best responses last time I looked best wet traction and all the other stuff. They are pricy tho.

I agree Judd. Go to tire rack and se what everyone's best overall rated tire is. The Bridgestone Duellers REVO. I bought 4 of them just earlier this month. So far i enjoy them allot. I got a good deal on them at Firestone in Lewisville. I got them for $150 each. They are normally $179 each.

They rated better then every tire on the market. They also look nice. They are not loud either which is nice.

I can't say for sure about that size tire, but Toyo makes a very good tire. I have had a couple of sets on my F250 Co. truck. Two things I don't like about them:
The ones I bouhgt were not good in the mud,or wet roads, of course I go places in it most people won't, but the ones I had didn't clean out & got slick in a hurry.

They seemed to take forever to "break-in" - This particular truck will road walk like crazy when I change tires, when they wear a little it levels out & drives good, the Toyo's had close to 3k on them before it got right, the Firestones I have now took about 500.

I still Buy Toyo tires for our bigger truck, 22.5's & they do well.

I have Michelin LTX M/S on my personal truck The first set I c/o at 55k this set has 12k on them & they are wearing good, I will buy them again.

I know Firestone has gotten some bad press in the last 3-4 years. However, I have been running the same size tire as your BF, with the full size Firestone AT. I average about 75K miles with frequent rotations (about every 15K miles) with my 3/4 ton F250 4x4. For a truck that size and weight, I cannot expect any more miles out of a tire than what I am getting with the Firestone. BTY, Bridgestone is also a company owned by Firestone and the Bridgestone AT is virtually the same and the Firestone. I now have 141,000 miles on my Superduty and they will need to be replaced with the second set of tires in the next couple of months or so. I have no doubt that I will go back with Firestone.

i have to agree with mike on this one i also have the firestones first set 78000, i am at i have 53 on the second set and they will take me thru the winter, i also rotate every 3 oil changes, and check air pressure every two weeks while fueling up

I would like to change my tires out soon as well. They are the same as Judd's and came stock on my F150 in 2002. I have 30K on em and they are still fair, but I am considering changing to a larger diameter tire to fill out the wheel wells. I personally just don't care for the look of the 60 profile tire on the 17" wheels. Although, these BF Goodrich tires have always been good on wet ramps and stop good on rainy roads, etc. I may go back to them. In the past I had excellent success with the Michelin LTX M/S tires so I am seriously considering those. Just like RedRanger says, I got 55K out of them and their traction was excellent.

Having lived through TWO Firestone Fiasco's where their tires came unglued (one in the 70's) and the recent ordeal, I just can't bring myself to be a test case for them. But that is just my opinion. I'm sure the problems have been fixed.

I am thinking of going to a 16" wheel and a P275/70/R16 tire. I drive the truck daily on the highways and don't need "mudders". What think ye all of this? Will these tires work well on an F150?

Judd, my vote is for Michelins and BF Goodrich.

BF Goodrich All Terrain .. this is no better for all around ! ..

Bridgstone owns firestone I believe and the dueler at revos are not offord in any form in firestone tires. BF goodrich doesnt come close to the duelers revos on tirerack. I will to the comments when it comes to tires. revos only way to go.

I have the BFG ATs but I was looking at Nitto. Anyone here have any experience with those?

Kat .. do NOT get the Nitto's .. I bought a set of those and they are LOUD .. they're very similar to a BFG AT, but nowhere near the same or quality .. and like i said .. LOUD ..

I've got BFG ATs now. They're terrible in sticky (won't clean) or slick (won't grip) mud, and worse on wet green grass (sit on top and spin), but they have great wet or dry road traction. I had 2 pairs of Pepboys Futura ATs before, they performed better than the BFGs, and cost less.

Judd, I drive at least 3000 miles a month, and I have tried many different tires. The only tires I use on pickups or SUVs now are Michelin LTX. I am very hard on tires: I have a 99 F250 Powerstroke with a 150 hp chip, 4" exhaust, intake and Injector power module, and I pull a 20' trailer with a Bobcat skid steer loader almost every day. The 'Stones that came on my truck lasted 31k miles; the LTX's are averaging almost 60k. They have terrific wet and dry traction, and if you rotate them regularly and maintain them correctly, they keep their good traction and handling to the bitter end of the tread's life. Nothing else I have found comes close, and I have looked hard for years.
