I posted this on another site but figured I'd share here too.

I bought a 2 weight fly rod a little over a month ago and it has become my new addiction. The rod is a TFO Signature Series 6' 2 weight and the reel is a Greys G1 click and pawl. I went with WF3F Orvis Wonderline since I thought most of my work would be in close so I figured uplining would be the best bet. It is good out to about 35 feet or so, maybe a bit farther, then it runs out of juice. I bought this rod to target panfish in urban and suburban ponds in the Houston area and beyond. I usually fish for 30 minutes to an hour on my way home from the office once a week in the afternoons. Are the 2 sunfish below the same? They look like they have the same markings to me, but different colors. Sorry, I am a freshwater noob.

Flies shown below are:

BH Briminator - http://ultralightflyfishing.yuku.com/topic/3338/BH-Briminator

Cap Spider - http://ultralightflyfishing.yuku.com/topic/5415/My-versions-of-Michael-Verduin-s-Cap-Spider

Here are a few pictures from my last 2 trips:

All of your Sunfish pictures are nice little Bluegills. Small rods are addictive. Seriously looking at building a 0 weight fly rod!

Nice pictures and looks like great fun!

I've been tossing around the idea of getting an UL for a while now. I'm thinking I'm going to pull the trigger the next time I head up to Dallas. Great pictures and congrats on the nice fish!

Agreed!

My old Texas license plate was 9FT2WT. It got my lots of questions and quizzical looks.

Thanks for the post, I can't remember the last time I caught a bluegill. I love the briminator, never thought to tie it w/ a big beadhead like that.

Beadhead is an unusual variant it doesnt ride hook up. The original recipe calls for bead chain so the fly will ride up.
It works better near structure

Love my TFO Proffessional 8' 2 weight. No need to overline and casts 40 plus feet easily. Blue gill love testing my rod.

I was thinking about a 2weight TFO. I can't decide between the Finesse or the Signature series.
