Guys I need some help. My 225 Opti is running really rough when I idle along. I can still run it up to 5500 rpms with no aparent problems. It only runs rough when I idle. Anyone got any ideas?

I already changed the fuel filter and my next step was to look at the plugs.

Yes the plugs. Take out a loan. They are 120 bucks.

Have the air filter changed also.

Have you been running Quickleen in your gas? You should run it in every tank to keep the motor clean.

Thanks for the help Allison1.

I changed the plugs. Those dudes are expensive!

I changed the filters too, but it still idles rough. It's so rough the boat shakes. Could it be as simple as bad gas? I haven't been running quickleen but I'm definately going to start now.

Got any other ideas?

Well there are a few different things that can cause a rough idle. Could be a bad tracker valve, no fire on one cylinder, sticking shift switch whitch changes fuel calibration from nuetral to in gear calibration, low compresion or like basscaster mention a busted or chipped reed or even a weak air compressor or believe it or not not having the proper battery size or a faulty charging system. So basically there is a lot of diagnosic procedures on these engines.....OPTI
