They are the most quite out there, they also have 3cyl instead of 2cyl like Merc and Yamaha..$500-$800 more as far as I can tell..

My merc has left me stranded on the lake before (Truman-Crappie Masters National Championship). Also, I can name 4 other people that have had trouble with Mercs.

Granted I ran a 30 hp 4 stroke merc for 3 years with no problems but my 115 hp left me stranded and for no good reason.

My last two motors have been a Honda. They were great motors but my yamaha seems to run a little smoother. If you do decide to get a honda get ahold of George (he's the owner) @ Tropical Marine in Marble Falls TX. He sold me scratch and dent crate (BRAND NEW) motors and they ran great. The only thing that was wrong on both motors was some wear on the engine cover, he knocked off about 25% of the price of a new one.

Been to Alaska a few times and always saw lots of Yamahas. On the river 35hp and 150-200hps on the big boats. I asked our captain if they were getting special deals on Yam. He said, no why? Cause I see so many everywhere. He said when someone makes one that will run better and longer, I'll buy it.

Thanks Ken, and I still may go with a Tiller but Yamaha seems to be at the top of the list as far as motors. I had a YZ125 dirt bike for years.

Dad is on V-Max #2. Never left us stranded, never had any trouble starting whatsoever. Will haul pretty good too.
