Joe pool is a flood control lake so shad die off from hot or cold water is not a big issue. no algae. no other issues for shad to not be abundant other than they get eaten by all the fish. most fish i clean have no shad in them, in my opinion to many fish too little shad. sand bass are a fast growing fish but need food to sustain that growth. no scientific proof other than 22 yrs of fishing this lake and some part time guiding on joepool.

Bubba js post screams for tpw to suspend the 14-21 inch slot so we can catch and keep fish so the small can have a chance to become big.

The 14-21 in slot is desinged to breed larger fish and its working on the the largemouth scale. im talking about so many small sandbass. if i could catch 50-100 largemouth like i do sandbass then that might b an issue. but overall im saying that the shad population cannot get big enough to support large hybrids and large sandbass.

Is that the same reason for no Hybrids stocked in Grapevine as well?

It is the money. It is also if the lake needs a preadtor. They say they will not ever put them in Eagle Mountain because we have so many blue cat which are a preadtor. But I think it is money.
