I hope this isn't a repost. I saw it on the local news tonight and thought it was pretty cool. Here's a quote from the story: "Our adversaries, the Mexican drug cartels, are leveraging military tactics and weaponry and terrorist tactics," explained Texas Department of Public Safety director Steven C. McCraw. The solution is a new weapon aimed to stop smugglers and criminals before they reach Texas' shores. At 34-feet long, powered by three 300 horsepower engines and armed with six machine guns; the "JD Davis" resembles a military patrol boat. Link to story

The article opens with the Hartley incident but the boats are to be used wherever necessary on the border. I like that each boat is anmed for a DPS officer who was killed in the line of duty, protecting our border.

those will be a good help to the Safe Boats that Parks and Wildlife has been running for a while now. There are 17 safe boats right now that have been named for fallen Game Wardens. here are a few pics of what they look like. they all have machine guns now that aren't pictured. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/warden/warden_photos/

580,000.00 that would buy a lot of fence or pay more real law enforcement to protect our southen border just saying.

Price may be high but without the right tools for the job more bodies are not going to help. I think it is a good investment for Texas and would like to see quite a few more built.

money well spent, with all the money that is thrown around at state and national levels there is no way I would ever bitch about a 5.2 million dollar expenditure that helps protect our borders and our border patrol agents. Now all the need is a fleet of drones that are armed and ready for action!
