I was just curious. I am always tempted to buy one, but never hear much about them so I dont. Anyone use them, with or without success?

It's the only popper style bait I throw. I have never had any luck on any other popper bait. I throw firetiger a bunch, best results for me.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

Terrible bait, don't waste your time.
Just kidding, I have a couple and throw them occassionally. It is another tool to be used as the appropriate time.
When in doubt, jerk.

Grew up throwing hula poppers and jtterbugs.
Still throw both....
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Caught my first bass when I was about 4 on a black Hula Popper. Short wide body with big mouth throws a lot of water when you pop it.
Actually prefer a torpedo now. You can pop it sharply to get more of a popper result or run it to get more of a buzzbait result.
PM me to let me know how it was!

Not since the third grade. But I have some good memories of the LMB blowing it out of the water and I was unable to hold still for the second hit... I always pulled it away from the fish. Good bait in clear water.

Largest bass I ever caught was on a hula popper. About 6 lbs. out of a stock tank. That bass just blew up on it and my Grandad was watching and nearly had a heart attack. He had wanted to know why I was making it pop so loud. I was about 15 at the time.

I have a couple so old the skirts have rotted off them. Might have to put new skirts on them and start throwing them again next year...

haven't thrown one alot lately. I used to throw hula poppers and torpedos alot when I fished ponds regularly. I now throw a buzzbait more than any other topwater. I really need to use a hula popper of torpedo more since they are not as popular as the spooks and sammys are.

I use a PopR a lot at Amistad at the right time of the year and it works great for top water fishing.

I still use a popper almost every time I fish early morning, but I'm looking to try something different. I dont like wearing my wrist out walking the dog all day with a spook. Maybe I will scoop one up and toss it around one morning. Appreciate the input from everybody, and I'm glad I could pull out some memories for some of you guys...and for the guy that said it always hits his feet...that was terribly corny, but I stilled laughed a little.
fatty has more posts than you. I have more beer in my garage right now than you!

Use it early morning or just before sunset. You will be amazed. Make a big splash with a small jerk.
