Just wanted some feed back on what kind of line and test people have had luck with. Using Mono and 14 lb test. What do you use?

We use Clear BigGame almost exclusively. 12# on spinning reels, 15# on bait casters, and 20# on the big reels we pull umbrella rigs with. I keep one bait caster set up for distance casting spooled up with 10# on a 8'6" long rod. I can reach just over 90 yards with a 1oz jig to reach a distant school. We have tryed a lot of different lines. Cheep, expensive, braid, mono, fluorocarbon, hybrid, bright, dark, and clear. Nothing works as well for us as BigGame. It costs about $2 to respool a ABU 6500 with it, so we have no problem with changing line OFTEN. It's just not worth loosing a fish or lure for $2 worth of line.
Take a fish boating today!

20 pound power Pro braided line that is 6 lb diameter. Never had a break off. Bent a few hooks getting un stuck and got my slabs back lol. I talked a guy that was a bass fisherman on rowlett creek before I got my boat and I asked him about that braided line he had on his reel. He said it is good and that I would break my tackle before I break that line. I believe him now

20# Big Game on bait casters, 15# on spinning. Cheap and super strong. The 20# h2o express is just about as good and even cheaper. I dont even bother netting fish unless they are 7 pounds with those lines. I just sling them over the side.

I'm a braid guy! But as we get into this deadstick time, I'm hearing mono might be better. I have to say, I was at Twak today, and my first fish came off braid! Power pro, or power braid something like that. 30lb. They aint gettin away from that!!! I do like the big game for mono. Can't beat it!
As far as Hubbard and line, just wait till MARCH, then Use anything ya got!

12 or 15 pound clear Big Game.
I've seen Matt pop a lot of big fish over the side, he has never broken off.

I have spooled up #12 and #17 Suffix mono. I've been out with Matt a few times, caught a couple of fish with him and I've only had one break off. Which was due to me not retying after a hard mornings catch

I am guilty of not retying enough I get so confident in the strength of the line I sometimes keep fishing with line that feels like sand paper There is a sharp armor gill that is serrated between the main gill plate and their eye. That will cut braid. I have taken line and cut it just to show people how sharp the gill plate is. That is the reason I try never to grab a fish without a glove. My hands used to look like I had been in a tragic farming accident before the glove.

I know exactly what you're talking about Matt! That thing is like a fresh razor blade, it will slice and dice anything.
I've been lucky enough not to have had my braid sliced, but I guarantee it could be done with ease!!

I don't use anything but 14# McCoy Mean Green. Good stuff.
