I think it sucks he endorses everything under the sun. Like one poster said he worked at Bass Pro and lots of poor saps were going in the day after his show and buying the [censored] he's endorsing that week. Idk how good of a person he is because I've never met him but theres something to be said for someone who backs any cockamamee new gimmicky lure or bug wipe on the market. I think people should back things they believe in not give two thumbs up to whoever writes the check. Sounds like congress. Just my 2 cents Bill does NOT endorse just any product. He endorses products who pay the bills of his show, staff, airtime, etc. That is how the fishing show business works. Plus, he has contracts and requirements that most of you don't understand. What bass angler wouldn't want to be in Bill's shoes? In MY book, a REAL Pro is someone who companies ASK AND PAY to endorse their products. I'll bet Bill has never had to call a bait company looking for an endorsement. Pro means "Pro-mote" your sponsors. You haters couldn't carry Bill Dance's tackle box. And I don't care if he changes sponsors every year. He is a great guy in my book.

[quote=gampa]He was featured in Bass Masters "A day on the lake" this year and produced one of , if not the best stringer of the year.[quote]
I was going to mention this. It was a 20+ pound sack with I believe 3 culls. During a cold front in the 40's and winds upto 25 mph if my memory serves me correct.
Not only that. I think I remember reading an article that Rick Clunn did on Bill back in the days. He said that he revolutionized the modern trolling motor by placing it in the front and getting ridiculed @ unitil he started to lap the field. If my memory is incorrect on this subject I apologize ahead of time.

Don't get me wrong here I like Bill but most of the shows he produces are from small private farm lakes where the fish will bite anything as they have not the fishing pressure that a public lake has.
Love the bloopers.....

Check out Bill Dances fishing history,23 national bass titles,3 time Bass angler of the year,BASSmaster Classic qualifier 8 of 9 years,82% of the time in the money in tournaments,51% a top ten finisher ,impressive to say the least...He has been credited with popularizing the carolina rig and the placement of trolling motors on the front of the boat...Retired at age 39 from tournament fishing, continuing his fishing show "Bill Dance Outdoors"....As far as hawking products, come on people, ALL PRO'S have sponsors displayed from their hat to their shoes, a neccesary element to help "pay the bills"....Bill Dance is a for real credit to the sport. I enjoy his shows and the Bloopers too.

Never said he wasn't a great guy or he wasn't a good stick or good for our sport but I tend to not trust a person that stands behind everything.

Bill Dance has been an inspiration for me since I was 8 (that was 22 years ago). I hope to one day meet him and shake his hand.
He was THE guy that got me interested fishing (even though he fished freshwater often and I fished saltwater often).
His shows have always been informative and entertaining.

I've seen his saltwater shows. I like them cuz you can tell he's out of his element, but still enjoys it....even though I can't stand watching saltwater fishing shows.

BD WAS a great fisherman but has become a cartoon caricature of his previous self. Everyone knows he fishes a private lake for the sole purpose of selling his stuff. Don't get me wrong, who doesn't like ol Bill? He seems like a good ol boy but I don't take his show seriously.

His show is what it is, a fishing show. He's trying to show lures and techniques and it's aimed at the novice angler. It's hard to show techniques in a place with no fish, or having to edit out all of the boats that try and come u to them fishing on public waters.
Bill's a great guy, my dad was friends with him when they both fished BASS in the late 70's and i had the opportunity to have dinner with him and my dad once when i was young after a tourney they had fished, he's a class act in my book, it's a shame that there are other "Pro's" that don't hold up to his same standard as a person on and off the water imo.
