Dave with BnB has always ran a great tournament. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet. It's not his fault the economy has dropped the number of guys fishing the events. I can remember when BnB always had atleast 250 boats. Even basschamps struggles to draw 200 on Rayburn when it once had over 300.
I'm just glad they still put in the same effort to provide us with a great tournament to fish.

Anglers, I have always tried to be as patient and give direct answers to questions that anglers raise on this forum and when I receive PM's. Some of the people doing all the complaining should come to one of these tournaments and pay all the expenses with their checkbooks and then buy the boats at the end of the season in the Championships and then take off to some nice resort with the incredible profits made by the insanely rich tournament providers.
The Bass N Bucks tournament paid back over 75%, which it has been doing for the past 18 years. The person adding the amount on this forum did not add in the $1000 guaranteed to the person catching the Big Bass because it was left off the results posting on the BNB website.
If you subtract for expenses: $500 just to use Umphey Pavilion, 7 people to work the tournament, tournament trailer and live release vehicles, and diesel to pull equipment to the lake, insurance for equipment and the tournament, Polygraph examiner, ETC. I do not believe anyone could run this tournament for under $2000. This leaves approximately $5000 x 5 tournaments remaining (if the remaining tournaments pull the same number of anglers) = $25,000 to buy a fully loaded, tandem axle, 2 depth finders, 200 Mercury optimax on a Legend Alpha 191 boat. If anyone, who thinks they can do this, I will put my money where my mouth is and buy the boat on the spot for $30,000 and the people who "think" the boats are free are welcome to show me where it is and I will still buy it from them for $30,000.
Sorry for the rant but this is really getting old. A touch of reality needs to be applied to some of the remarks being made.

BNB staff $21,600 + $1000 BigBass/$30,240 = 74.73% payback I didn't see any money taken in from sponsors included in your income figures. I'm assuming Bud Light pays a pretty penny for having their name on the tournament series. If they don't, I want to hire the guy that negotiated that deal for them. He's a winner. Hey, no one here is faulting anyone for making a buck. It's the American way. But you must also realize that it is the American Way to discuss things, which is also what we are doing here. People discuss high prices at Gander Mountain here all of the time but I don't see the big cheese form Gander getting bent out of shape about it. He knows that it comes with the territory. He has thick skin. All business owners need thick skin because people WILL talk, whether you agree with what they are saying or not. You cannot shut them up so you might as well get used to it. Just some free unsolicited advice for ya. Hope you don't take offense to it.

I dont think he will take offense he is one of the most open and fair tournament directors I have seen. I think if you look at those numbers with the championship prize they are in line. You would also have to figure in all the equipment the trail has and I know those rigs arent cheap.

Guys will make up their minds on whether it is worth it or not. Putting the payback on a website is doing nothing more than pointing out facts. No one should get upset about facts being displayed I wouldn't think.

Nope, but have you priced one? 45k will barely touch a base boat. Legend isn't giving them away for 1/2 price I can assure you.
How about the travel pay and money for the tourney staff?
I wouldn't expect them to work for free.
You defend this 71% payout then have the audacity to rip on the Texas Team Trail payout schedule which is waaaaaayyyy better than this ?? You have to be joking .............. I am not Ripping on the TTT payout Schedule other than to say it won't be enough money for all the travel. That is it. I think all these trails need to Shrink there payfield and give more to the top ten and quit handing out participation ribbons. As far as this Payout, it pays too deep also, but it will be much less Travel too. All tourneys are Right there Not spread out over half the state. I can't find Anywhere that is says exactly what the payout percentage is, but Everyone of these guys made the choice to fish, so why are they being ripped now?

Many of the Sponsors on most trails are just Product sponsors NOt cash sponsors.

some of the reasons a lot of the bigger tournaments are shrinking is because some of the pros have lost their sponsors an can do better fishing these trails against weekend fishermen when your hear people wanting to topload the money paying less places that is driving this. if your entry fee is close to 300.00 make 2 practice trips an stay overnite then the tournament day fish against pros an jackpotters an get 10th place an double your entry you might want to rethink what you really are wanting to get out of a tournament trail just something to think about .

Don't forget the $50 per team membership. At 108 teams so far that is $5400 so far. Nobody expects anyone to do anything for free. Honestly it's nobodys biz what you make off the deal. I don't engage I conversations about what I make off my places and would certainly not do so on an Internet forum. I think the trails are a product just like a rod, reel, bait. You are chasing the anglers dollar. Just as products get discussed so do the trails and their benefits and negatives. Each one has both. The one suggestion I would make is I see blt get into chats like this one pretty regular. Far more than anyone for media or champs. A lot of ghe people you are responding to may not even be your customers. Just don't get dragged into the mud. People are either going to fish the blt and bnb or their not. I don't think getting into p:)(ing matches on a forum is going to help grow it at all. Just my humble opinion.

I looked at the field and I do not see one guy from that field on hear complaining about anything. I just wish I was in a better position to go cover and video the results of the event.

I don't think most of us go to fish for 10th place.
If they only paid 10 spots then last money would be alot more than double entry.
BNB has always been stacked with Sticks. It has never been about the 2 day a month angler. It has always been about Big sticks and big sacks, it is nothing new.
I keep seeing the word Pro's everytime any trail is mentioned... There are sticks in ABA,BFL, Fed Nation, BNB, BLT, BassChamps, Everywhere. They aren't Sticks because they are Pro's.... They are Semi-pro and Pro Because they are Sticks...... They put in the time and have the abuility to catch fish well and have learned to make good decisions.
Something Most can do if they put in the time.

What in the hell is all the whining about? Are some of the ones complaining because they are trying to make a living doing this?I fish BNB and any other tournament there is when i'm home from offshore,i donot think about what the tournament director or trail make as far as profit.I fish for the competition and fellowship of it all.I personally believe most of the whiners or in the bottom half of the field and want to piss and moan because they don't get a check. The way i see it enjoy yourself or stay home.I don't cash a check every tournament but i good with because it makes me work harder and try to improve my fishing skills.
if i'm not fishing i'm thinking about fishing
