Hobo, I had that experience once. My line was totally in the air and I could actually lift the Pop-R out of the water. The strange thing to me is there were no storm clouds that I could see.

This happened to me on T Bend with a Bald Eagle. Big bad bird dives down like a lightning bolt and slaps the water feet first and was so close to my boat I could easily identify the really big, I'd say about a 16 inch sandy, that it carried off in one talon. I've seen this on TV of course, but in person, it made me pause fishing for several minutes in awe just like it did Magic.

I was fishing pertis creek in the early spring and was watching a doe and two fawns getting a drink. One of the fawns ventured a little far out into the water, and all of a sudden a huge splash occurred and the fawn went under water. A huge alligator had grabbed the fawn and never saw it again. That was the coolest thing I had ever seen, it looked like a big bass blowing up on a top water!!!

I'm hung on that bush.

In High School me and some buddies in the fall/early winter went fishing/camping at Embom lake northern NM. It was so cold and I had an old army bag with no liner, up at first light. There were two big horn sheep, blasting off ramming their heads. We were the only crazy ones at the lake. Neat to see in person.

The fishing was awesome, huge trout that were reduced to just heads on the stringer the next morning. frown

Seriously, why cant there be an open season for 1 week statewide on these things? Protected my arse....there's thousands of them on falcon alone.

October of this year at The Tribute golf course near Lake Lewisville.
As we are driving up to #10 tee box between the cart path and ditch, keeping up with the cart is a frog hopping his butt off with a snake chasing him down snapping at him. The snake was vicously snapping at him. The frog jumped back into the long grass.
wow - that was cool and so close to us.

Nature provides some crazy entertainment.

While fishing Millwood in SW Arkansas a couple years ago me and my son saw an 11 to 12 foot alligator take down a full grown Doe deer that was swimming across one of the oxbows.

It was like watching an episode of National Geographic, after it caught her and did the death roll on the surface the gator took her under for 8 minutes before it resurfaced with the deer in it's mouth. The Gator stayed around long enough for us to take a few pictures and then swam away with it's catch.

Don't fall out of the boat there!

One day at my parents house my brother and I were goofing off outside and heard a hawk cry. Although this wasn't uncommon because of the regular sitings of red tails in the area this one got our attention. The hawk was on the top of a radio tower. It had a nest in the tallest tree in our pasture. There were two buzzards circling very low over this tree. Finally the hawk dropped out of that tower without ever flapping a wing and crashed into one of those buzzards!! I mean he smoked him!! I never knew buzzards could fly so fast!! Those things didn't stop flapping till they were out of sight.

Saw a bald eagle swoop down and snatch a good size bass off one of my favorite points at lake Welsh. Didn't catch any off that point that day, dumb bird.

While sculling a boat in Tennessee with my feet hanging over I look down and see the largest snapping turtle I have ever seen in my life. It was laying there covered in alge and moss looking up at me. The only thing I could think about were my toes and how close they were to its mouth. I pulled my feet in and reversed with that paddle so fast you would have thought I had a small outboard attached to the boat.

Last week at my lake house on Cypress Springs I saw hawk try to take away a blue gill from a heron that had just caught it. The heron won and ate the blue gill while the hawk watched from my dock. The hawk then caught a small turtle and ate it in the yard. The hawk stayed around our house all weekend chasing birds. It was fun to watch.

I watched a blue heron on a boat dock knocking mayflies into the water and catching bluegill when they would go after the mayflies. That was a professional fisherman there. I have seen several eagles catch seagulls at Texoma. This year while hunting i had shoot a turkey with my bow, and as soon as it quit flopping a big owl swooped down and tried to take my turkey before i could get to it.

While duck hunting Texoma, I watched a Bald Eagle swoop down and pick a teal right off the water.

When living in cali, i would see a lot of cool things while fishing the Delta. The delta is loaded with 1000's of miles of tules. These tules are covered with black birds. I've watched bass come out of the water and eat a blackbird on 3 different occasions.
