Maybe this one has been found and mentioned before and if so, I apologize. I'm not on here everyday. But my son and I launched at Val's Landing, ran north along the bridge, went east following the buoy's to the Island. We fished a hump between the big tree and the boat lane.
We were going to leave and head down to the 515 bridge so I got in the boat lane and I saw a red stake or stump marked with red tape sticking out of the water on the north side of the boat lane. I was idling to see it but I was in the boat lane. We looked at it from the boat lane, made a few comments, and I was about to gun it and wham, I hit a stump. What? I was in the boat lane. My graph showed a huge stump, looked like a orange cone shape, sticking up about 2 feet from the surface.
I couldn't believe it. I've been down this boat lane 500 times or more the past 6 years. I went back over it because I couldn't believe what I saw and there it was. wow
Did I get the GPS Coordinates? NO, my son and I were still in shock but it's about 150 yards east of the big tree in the boat lane before you get to birch. If you see the red stake, draw a straight line due south to the boat lane, then come back west toward the 2946 bridge about 30 yards.
If we hadn't of stopped and fished that hump, I might have hit that thing going 50mph or more.
Just thought I'd share.

Is it on the ridge that comes into the boat lane just northeast of Birch???
If so that ridge goes into the boat lane and there are stumps on top of it, I always run a little towards the island side at that point...

Thanks for the heads up but understand all bouys or boat runs are not cut out. In fact the bouys were not added till Late 90's or 2000 the lake opened in 80 so be careful. The SRA put the bouys out in fields or areas that at full pool would be ok to run, did not consider low conditions. Right where you are talking about is public hump with was loaded with trees and when the lake was filling up the east side of it had several round bales of hay in the field to the East of the hump. I hope someone will mark this before someone gets hurt.

My neighbor has lived here since 1998 and he told me the same thing Marc Mictchell said.
Yes, the public hump was what I was trying to remember - that was where we were fishing.
And yes Texas C1 - that red marked stake. If you are going east in the boat lane from the 2946 bridge, the red marked stake is on your left approx. 20 yards from the center of the boat lane. If you are in the middle of the boat lane, it is approx. 30 yards from the red stake.

There is 2' of water on top of community hump now, skinnier than that some places. I quit running over that hump 2 months ago, idle and trim up!

Is there another name for "Public Hump"? I cannot find it on my Martin's Map? It is not Heartbreak Ridge is it?
