Hey All,

Well, I ordered, received, and swapped out my old control board in my Minnkota Maxxum 74 to the newer style control board...

Well as luck would have it... it is still doing the same damn thing.

No matter where I put the speed adjustment... off, 20% 50% 100%... it runs at 100% when I touch the footpad....

I am about to throw it in the lake....

But, before I do, what else could possibly cause this thing to run on 100 percent even when the adjustment switch is lower...???

I replaced the control board, I replaced the Momentary, Continuoous, OFF switch with a brand new one. All the wires are hooked up in accordance with the schematic etc.

Motor run like a scaled dog..... However, it has no speed adjustment.....

Still runs on freaking 100%... Now the new control board comes with a new speed adjuster so it could not be it.

Could the new control board be bad???

Anything on the boat be causing this???

What else on the trolling motor could be jacked up???

Anybody have any ideas???

Thanks

Stacey

Stacey hope you get it worked out soon. Did they say that it was the correct board seems like the 24 V and 36 V would have different boards. Good Luck let me know if you need some help.

Hey David,

The control board I received is a universal 24 or 36 volt control board. I verified this with several vendors... I got the instructions and all the missing small parts and got it all put together as per the schematics...

The Maxxum ran fine up until the middle of a fishing trip when it just went into high mode right in the middle of a fishing trip.

Everyone said the control board was bad as this is a common problem... Well now, either the new control board is bad or I have another problem....

I do not know what that problem is yet...

Regards,

Stacey

Hey Stacey how much was the new board? Mine is bad on my Maxumm 74 also. Maybe we could work something out if your old one was not the problem. Thanks!

Jason,

I am pretty sure the old one is bad... In looking at the schematics etc. There is really only one thing it could be in theory...

The control board speed circuit.

Of course in threory we (me and my buddies) could be totally wrong.

I am metering out the entire system asap to ensure it is not anything else.

If it is I will post up the fault.

Regards,

Stacey

Damn,

I thought Minnkotas were bulletproof...

haha

I wish they would do somethign for the customers who are taking it in the shorts over these problems.

Is yours under warranty?

Hopefully mine will be fixed soon. I have been in and out of town.

Stacey
