Crappie are fair on minnows??? That's an outright LIE!! I'll bet you can't find one single person that has caught even ONE crappie out of that lake in the last 20 years. Makes a person wonder how reliable those TPWD fishing reports really are.

Anybody that would fish Reds after a front like we just had has not fished the lake much.. 5 days of south wind will make the fish bunch back up and turn on.. North wind and front get them lock jaw.

REDFISHON... with all due respect, i do agree with your take on the fronts, however that rule doesn't ALWAYS apply... shortly after that last front came i still went and the N wind was blowing hard! miraculously, the fish were still by dam (hadn't moved), and there was some to be caught! now it was tough to fish becauese of course with a N wind it all ends up at the dam and it was rough in my little boat lol...I do agree with you though man not trying to start an argument at all, i just don't think that rule is set in stone. Respect to you sir... i went yesterday too and it had only been South wind 1 day and i saw TONS of schools and caught some nice lunkers, granted they were very finicky and picky it can be done

And not as good for the most part. I just pick my days carefully it costs me 100 bucks in gas to get down there and want to have the best chance.. If I still lived in SA I would go no matter what the weather.. I was catching fish there a few years back with a tropical strom blowing over us.LOL.. I fish thru stuff like this at the coast.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rvJmRO1-Sw.. I agree with you above it is what you make of it.

Is anybody heading up to Cali this weekend? Finally pulled the trigger and purchased another boat. What do you guys recommend as far as looking for the reds right now.
Thanks, Michael

they will probably be on the move after this front... they alraedy moved before it but they might return... i would head to the dam first and check it out...from there if they aren't there head towards the powerlines. Good luck and be safe it's gonna be pretty windy

the redfish are going to be SUPER slow in the main lake until late february... and if you tried it a few weeks ago they were slowing down but there, but they weren't at 10-15ft, they were deeper.. that might explain no luck, but also if your in the wrong area where there are no fish doesn't matter the depth! check out your graph and look for areas that have no bait and be aware for the smell...if you have those 2 they are there so look harder... move fast and don't just cruise around slow! good luck bro ... also jet divers are too much of a pain.. just use Norman DD22's.. or in years past i've caught plenty on a 3/4-1oz traps...
