I know this has been discussed a bunch but I am curious how many of you guys use braid exclusively for Flipping , C-Rigging, and Deeper structure fishing and if you do use it do you fish the braid with a Flouro leader or just straight braid. I am also curious what some of you see as a benefit to using Flouro instead of braid in the above applications. I love the sensitivity that braid affords me combined with the strength especially for example when fishing a football jig in deeper water (20ft +) but I like the smoothness of flouro for some applications. I am all ears to opinions from guys that have used both. Also for clarification I am referring to fishing lakes that are notorious for having big fish and heavy timber/grass , like Falcon, Amistad, Ivie, etc

only time I use braid anymore, is when I am fishing in vegetation. everything else is flouro. I dont use braid and flouro leaders either, i dont feel confident with the knots or the change in stretch characterisitics ( i tend to pop my leaders when I tried the combination).

Fluro only for connection to the hook, unless it's a Frog. Suffix braid for backing. No leaders, only one knot between me and the fish. I Pitch or Cast. No C-rig,it's boring.

I like throwing braid -- it's a lot more managable than floro to me. But I almost always use a floro leader because I THINK fish might be able to see braid. That's the biggest reason to fish with a leader -- if you think the fish can see braid then use a leader. It doesn't matter if fish can see it or not, if you think they can it will effect your fishing.

I only use braid for big swimbaits (6+ inch Ospreys and Hudds) and when I'm pitching heavy cover. Fluoro for all other plastic presentations. I'm not worried about the fish seeing the line if I'm looking for a reaction bite or throwing a big bait.

Braid for frogs and thick vegetation only.......the rest I leave it up to Flouro. I like to crank with copolymer.

Braid for frogs and buzz baits only. I use braid with a fluoro leader for C-Rigs. Braid is tied to a swivel and fluoro on the other end with the hook. I like the low visibility with fluorocarbon and that it sinks.

I use braid on a lot of different applications, especially flipping and c-rig. Don't use braid on A-rig tho. Stick with Fluoro for that, I don't want the line to scare the fish...............

Started using braid on everything and have been happy with the results.

I gave up on the whole fish seeing the line thing. Heck if they will bite that Chandelier of the A-rig then I dont think the line color matters. That right there tells me the whole line seeing thing is a bust. But thats just my take at it.

Thanks for the responses, I used to run flouro on everything just about, cept cranks. But after discovering the ability to use braid and tie the flouro leader to it via a Uni to Uni on drop shot rods I kind of migrated everything over to the braid with a flouro leader, simply because to me the sensitivity is that much better. I will add that IMO not all Flouro leaders are created equal, I was out of Invisix a couple weeks ago and just tied my flouro leader with some P-Line flouro and had several break offs that worried me, but then I realized what the new variable was...the P-Line. To me for C-Rigs (which I dig) and fishing those deep Jigs the braid is simply awesome, and I can tie some 25 lb Invisix leader material to it to give me the confidence that the fish wont see the braid and the performance is pretty darn good, zero stretch on hook sets for the most part and none of the line memory issues you get with Flouro after ahile of being used. I was just curious how many guys have gone this route. I'll add taht I use the chit out of the KVD line treatment after each use and believe that stuff really works. Thanks for keeping the topic civilized...grin

+1 for the same reasons.

I use braid on about everything except cranks and topwater. I'll use flouro leader on dropshot, shakyhead in clear water or football head jig around rocks. I haven't had any issues with uni-uni if you do it right.
