Does anyone know if there are still any walleyes in Lake Georgetown? I know of a few people that have caught walleyes out of this lake and I know that they knew what a walleye was, so I know that at one time there were at least a few in the lake! Has anyone else caught one in Lake Georgetown??? If so, where at?

Can't say as I'm going to be much help but when the lake first opened, the walleye fishers were around Russel Park. They would anchor in about 30 feet of water right out from the swimming area. They would work that underwater point. I would be looking for the coldest water you can find which will be deep.

I have never caught one there and haven't really tried. But did hook one up on Travis in the early 80's.

Also, try to hook the next state record Northern. Those toothy critters are in Town Lake. The record is 18lb from there.
Good luck.

I've lived in Gtown since 1975 and used to ride my motorcycle around the river banks and
up the boat ramps before the lake was a lake.

I've never seen a walleye or caught one.

Will they live in the warm waters around these parts??

We used to catch Hybrid Stripers until they were fished out. I hear they are stocking them this year in G'town but I'm not holding my breathe.

It has been a while since I have heard of anybody catching one, and I dont know if there are any left. Anyone know how big the walleyes got in this lake? I wish that they still had a fair amount of walleyes in that lake!

I had never heard about the hybrids! I am not holding my breath either---but I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

I believe the lake record is just over 3lb.
Check TPWD website. They will live anywhere its just that I am betting that the water temps are too hot for any stable reproduction. There could be some stragglers still in there though.

How would you even go about trying to catch a straggler in there? Is it possible to catch one while fishing for another species? I know a little about walleye fishing but I have never been fishing specifically for walleye. I know some good spots on that lake that would seem like good places to try but I am not sure what to use. I have always heard that a fuzzy jig is the number one thing to use for walleye.

Walleye fishing is a whole nother science. For example, check out the Walleye Tour Rules Live bait, trolling, multiple rods per angler.

I suggest taking a look at Google, doing a search for walleye fishing and you ought to turn up more than enough material to keep you studying for a bit.

I caught one in Granger Lake which is below Georgetown. I guess one made it through the dam and went downstream. It was 3 pounds and in good shape. This was about 5 years after the lakes were made.
