Question, just bought this motor, and don't know a whole lot, but was wondering if the area of the motor pointed to in photo is supposed to be open like that, or if there is supposed to be a plate covering. Looks like area where fuel may come down in, or area where motor breathes from, don't know. Any help appreciated.

Cool, thought it looked carbish So if the engine has a tough time starting, is this where I can spray some starter fluid?

Use "Deep Creep" spray made by Seafoam......... you need to remove the carb and spray it down real good... then put a new carb kit on it.
After you have reassembled everything add Seafoam to the gas at 1oz per gallon. Never use starting fluid.

Why is starting fluid bad to use, I bought some yesterday at walmart, and it said it would work on auto, and marine engines. Just curious guys, since it works so well with car engines.

I am not an expert but I would guess it would not be good for a 2 cycle motor since the only oil the motor gets is mixed with the fuel, starting fluid could cause the cylinders to be scratched due to not having any lubrication. Just a guess.

Starting fluid causes hard explosions rather than the normal cumbustion in an engine. IT IS BAD FOR ALL ENGINES>

Thanks guys, I will not use the spray I bought after reading everyone's opinions. I really appreciate the feedback, probably would have used it over and over, if I hadn't thought to post the question here first. Probably saved me a good engine. I guess if I'm having trouble with engine starting up, I could always take the engine cover off to let it breath a little more when trying to crank up. I'll probably end up getting a tune up anyways sooner or later.
