Has anyone installed a wall plug or whatever it is called that would allow you to plug in a gas powered generator when power goes out? I am trying to figure out a way for a portable gas generator to run the pool equipment if the power goes out. Last year when we got all the ice, power went out and messed up the pool equipment. It was under warranty then but not this year. Any one know how to do this or know anyone who does?

P.S. I posted this same question in the classified section but thought I might get a better response over here.

You will have to get with me on the phone> It is easy to do
I've got my house set up but you can run only certain breakers if you wish.

the "redneck" way to do it is build a cord with two male ends on it, one end will plug into your generator, and the other will plug into your dryer plug....MAKE SURE YOU SHUT OFF THE MAIN POWER!!!!

never heard that before, but im far from an electrician. i was gonna suggest that he put some plugs outside and make his pumps plug in, instead of hard wired, that way he could plug them into the generator.
