Mine did that but it was because it sank and shorted out my bow panel tilt switch . Unplugged those 3 wires and then it went down.

When this happened to me it was the solenoid. I replaced it and Trim worked great. Good Luck and Happy Fishing.

If your motor is stuck in the all the way up position make sure your battery is fully charged. When the motor has been raised all the way it puts a higher amount of pressure on the bottom side of the poppet valve which will require more pressure on the topside to release it. In other words if your battery isn't up to snuff it will not lower your motor.
Just a thought, James

Mite check for a bad connection or broken wire at the switch first or at the plug in to make sure it is making good connection then at the solenoid if still not the problem then bypass the solenoid to check it if you have power to the unit it should work if it don't then you may have worse problems.

If it won't go down using the throttle button or the motor button, then it's the down relay like Skeeterhawk said...happened on my old 150 Johnson.
Open the bonnet and pull the relay, take it up to the nearest autoparts store and match it up.
Just about guarantee you it's a relay.

You don't say what type of motor it is, but I have to agree with the other 2 OMC owners, it's the trim relay. There are 2. You can swap them and get it down and probably not get it back up. ------------------ steve pine
