Back track a bit....
Last Wed, my buddy Andy and I visited Lake Palestine for the first time. Not knowing what to expect beside what I have read here on TFF. With some great help from Larry & Vern (both TFFers), we managed to weaved thru some sandbars and danger zone of timbers. We fished some timbers with little success, but that is a typical nature of timber fishing in a lake with million trees. We then tried the bridge and WOW...
Easily without blowing hot air, we flat out wear them out. Limits of two were landed w/i 90mins and spent an additional 2.5hrs just catch and release. Each set of pilings, we caught easily 10-20 keepers each. Left them biting to go to the next piling for the sake of moving. The lake was glasslike and the bites were non-stop from the moment we got to the bridge to the time we gave up left them biting.

Today (the only day I could escape this week), I invited a dear friend from Sulfur Springs. Btw, the weatherman lied big time. Forecast was supposed to be high 71 and Sunny. We didn't see the sun all day, but fog. Temp never did reach above 54. Cloudy with light wind, we didn't do nearly as well at the bridge although there are still plenty to be caught (I guess I was too spoil from last week outing). After about 18 nice thick keepers in the livewell, I decided to learn the timbers better this time. It was no easy cake n icing, but well worth the time spent. We didn't keep anything legal that wasn't BIG and still ended the day with 40. Wasted a lot of time searching for hogs in dead water, but how else would we learn the lake without putting the time... It was a lot harder for me today compare to last week, but to me, today's outing was actually more successful. I put in my time to learn the unknown water! 3hrs of timber fishing wore me out..

Today was called fishing; Last week was called catching...

Ran into Vern at the bridge, and it was cool to finally meet someone I communicated regularly from TFF.
Special thanks to Gerrald T. (my dear friend from S.S.) for an awesome Thanksgiving!

Here is the meaty livewell:

Here is Gerald with 3 among many good size whities from timbers:

yup....Palestine is official closed until Pepop's notice....hahaha

Gerald is no new to crappie fishing, he ties his own jigs and had a boat just like most people on TFF. But when priority set in to take care of his family with little or no time to fish, it was delightful to fish next to a friend like him today.
What really gave me the heart-felt moment was when Gerald confessed to me that today was the first day he got invited to fish in a boat in 6yrs. Just when I thought I had it bad in the last couple of years, there is alot for me to be thankful for...

Happy Thanksgiving to all...
