Headed out to Hubbard tomorrow to catfish. Would you guys drift around the dam yet or is it still too early?

My other ides is to tie off in some timber and sit still.

Any ideas?

Also, where can I locate some shad to catch in my castnet? No biggie if I can't find em, but they are always my first choice.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, for what it's worth (not much probably), I have drifted the west side between the power plant jetty and the big point south of there five times since mid October in water 25-30' deep. I have caught five 8-10 pounders and app. 35 eaters, a few of which went 4-5 lbs. Am disappointed that I haven't been able to catch anything bigger, but I have not seen any shad balls near the bottom. Hopefully some colder weather will drive the shad down and improve the big blue bite.

When drifting how often do you check you bait?

I bank fish that area regularly - drifting the dam will produce fish! Shad are very plentiful in the deeper water marinas. (harbor bay and chandlers landing)

If I have more than enough shad, every ten to 15 minutes. If bait was tougher to find, every half hour.
