Most major brand spinnerbaits will work, i.e., Strike King, Hart, War Eagle, Johnson etc. Trick is to get the bait down and stay down. First consideration is your reel. Most of todays high speed reels just don't let you work the slow roll spinnerbait - you can't crank them that slow. You need to start with the absolute slowest retrieve ratio you can find. 4:8-1 worked well, a 5-1 is ok.

Any brand will work. For retriving a deep spinner you need at least an 1oz to 1 1/2oz. IMO, the blade is the concern. I lean toward a Colorado blade for the added vibration or at least a large No. 7 willow. The thought here is that at that depth, a colo blade will send vibe up the line to you for added sensitivity as well as send ing vibe to the fish near by. Also, there is limited need for flash since you have limited light. So a dinner bell blade seems to make more sense. As a different presentation, try attaching rattles that are dragged as a six inch trailer with some line. (Use light line so it will break off if they get hung up.) They will kick a little silt as you slow roll on the bottom. REMEMBER to retie your main line once in awhile. Heaving that heavy oz really wears on the knot regardless of braid or flouro.

I have to plug a fishing advocate that passed away last year Bill Dee.. His company is still up and running and anyone who has used his Boss Minime will agree it is top shelf stuff. from his website The "Boss Mini-Me" is also a compact spinnerbait, but this bad boy weighs in at a whopping 1 1/4 oz! It is designed along the lines of our fantastic Mini-Me but is "slightly" larger and utilizes larger blades. The "Boss Mini-Me" is designed to reach those BIG bass that lurk in the deeper depths and it works! Tested on Lake Amistad, it caught fish in 25-40 feet of water. http://www.soblures.com/boss-mini-me-spinnerbaits.shtmlRIP my friend

I agree here, pay close attention to your rod and reel ratio (5.2:1), if not you will not be throwing this presentation for long, it will wear you out. This can be affective, but you must throw it and if possible, bang it off structure. Stay dark in color and I personally would throw a double Colorado blade, you must have vibration. Do not waste a lot of time on throwing this, after a while you will need to make the decision it is working, or go to something else, the fish will let you know soon if this is what they may be interested in. Also, you may watch your water temp, these fish need to be aggressive, this is now a feeding presentation for say. Also if I throw a spinnerbait, it will be a War Eagle

Sixth Sense Lures makes a great 3/4 oz spinnerbait that works well for 1-20 foot.
