I'm looking to see if there is such a thing as a universal solenoid for a tilt and trim switch. The motor is a 1973 70 HP evinrude and it's on a glastron hull the same year model.Any info.would help.It gets stuck going in the up position and I have to remove the lead from the battery so it won't burn the motor up.I can lightly tap on the solenoid and it will quit ,but then it will hang again.I've already ruled out a short in the wires by ohming them all out.I know it's not the switch because it will do this even without the switch.Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Can you get to the relay contacts and file them a bit ?

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

The solenoids on my old Ranger looked just like the universal starter solenoid off a Ford. Pretty cheap over at O'Reillys.

Oldfrog....ni there totally enclosed, but thanks for the input.
Bullet,it's pretty funny,I was looking at my boat and my neighbor came over to shoot the bull, and I told him what was going on(now mind you He's a Ford mechanic) and he says hell that's just a starter solenoid off an old Ford.So we went to O'reilly's and got one .$15,I haven't put it on,but it looks exactly like the one that's on there. Thanks for the help guys.....Gotta love the TFF......
