I am going to put some condos on a small lake I fish and have a question....I have found a drop off and wonder where to best place them. Is it better to place the condos in a row along the top edge of the drop off or the bottom level. This lake is not deep (18 ft max). This area drops from 8 feet to 12 feet.

Also, the lake has crappie, but is a better lake for LM and sunfish. Will this structure help with those fish?

thanks for any advice.

I would put them on the bottom considering the depth of the lake.

I may be wrong and I'm sure if I am someone will correct me, but I would put them in both...running from shallow to deep...that way no matter the season, you know there going to be in the structure, now all you have to do is find the depth! And yes, from what little I know, I believe all fish prefer structure over open water. $.02

+2 Plus the water level fluctuates. This strategy gives you options.

Also, set some deep for winter fishing. Vary the depths for other times of the year.

Thanks guys. I have enough materials to do both depths, so that is what I will do. Now, just find a day when I can get it done without everyone who fishes this little lake won't see.

This lake really has big fish in it, just haven't found the big crappie yet. I have caught 3 LM over 8 pounds and a green sunfish over 2 pounds from this 27 acre lake.

Mostly pvc with some brush added if I run out of pvc. I have picked up 15 buckets from local construction sites. Still on the look out for more materials to use.

I took some rough grit paper to my PVC, and it helps stuff cling and grow to it....I took a 4" PVC as a center vertical, and drilled 1" paddle bit holes in it for baitfish cover...I stuffed bamboo....(that was growing wild on the side of a road) in every pipe....I was also told to punch some holes in a dog food can tie it to it and sink it....helps baitfish find it faster....who knows though...
