Just found a one inch by half inch hole in the hull of a boat I just bought. The hole is beside the ring used for the winch. Any suggestions on how to patch? I have heard bondo, but thought there might be something made specifically for boats. Was going to call a marine shop in Granbury, but what's the point when I have access to all you experts!

A hole thats gone clear through the hull should have some matting or fiberglass cloth behind it.
The area you describe might be accessible from the front electronics plate for a small hole like that. I'd look online for a repair video. I've seen them before. Its not a large job if you're comfortable with fiberglass.

I would agree with Allison here. Even the bondo with the fiberglass threads will not bond to the fiberglass. If that used it will probably fall out while pounding through waves.
