I have tried them many times and can not make my self like them.
Line tangle, can't keep my finger on the line to feel the bite. and the dang thing is upside down?
Am I the only person that does not like spinning reels?

I;m not a big fan of them, but it is worth learning to use. It can be a good tool just like anything else.

I have one spinning combo compared to 6 -10 baitcaster combos. I use it for dropshoting mostly and weightless baits.

You just gotta take the time to learn. They are a must in some situations.

i love mine, and can't stand to use a casting reel. I have 5-6 on the deck, each for a different use,... I never 'birdsnest',but I watch a lot of guys doing the birdnest dance all the time, that's where ya throw your lure, and then start stripping line with your left hand for about 5 minutes..funny.
...my lake is fork, and from 50lb braid to 6 lb mono I never have a problem, different strokes, different folks.

I could do without my baitcasters, but could never do without my spinning rigs. But then again, i mainly fish 6lb to 10lb flouro.

I have one for plastics that I skip under docks, etc. I will on rare occassion finesse very light crappie jigs for bass around submerged brush and stumps. That's about all I use it for and it is far better than a bait caster for those techniques IMO.

I like spinning gear. It's versitle, allows you to throw light baits, works well with light line, and it is definately a tool that will help catch fish. I fish out of a kayak, so I normally only have two rods/reels with me. One of them is always a spinning reel. Do I throw a 6XD, or drag a 1/2 oz Texas rig on a spinning reel? No, but spinning gear is a tool that works great for grubs, small Shad Raps, and other bass catching baits.

My home lake is mainly open water, pretty clear, and smallmouth and spotted bass are the dominate species. Spinning rods get used almost every time I fish.

8 Spinning reels & 8 baitcasters in my line up. Spinning reels get the most call to duty on my boat.

I didn't either until I bought a good set-up and it made all the difference in the world. I picked up a like new shimano stradic ci4 on a NRX on the forum and it opened my eyes to spinning gear.

Being from CA, it's what I cut my teeth on. While I've made the transition to 90% casting equipment I still have a couple spinning rods. They're awesome for throwing shaky heads and wacky worms on and of course the mojo and split shot rigs.

I cut my teeth also on a spinning reel but once I touched a baitcaster I was done with spinning reels. Moving to Florida brought the spinning reel back and has reminded me of their place. There are pros and cons with each. I prefer my baitcasters but I like throwing crankbaits more than anything else.

There are only two kinds of people in the world: A) Those that LOVE spinning reels... and... B) Those that HATE those sorry, no-account, FREEEEEEEKIN' spinning reels!
