Good news!! I have a trip planned tomorrow...which happens to be my birthday....you hear me fish god!!

Gene took me under his wing when I was 17-18 and let me tag along with him prefishing for his night trips. Have learned more from him about the lake than anyone. One hell of a fisherman.

Second that Cam--known him for 30+ years. Cantankerous and bull-headed, but fun to be with in a boat--great with customers--and he absolutely can fish. Knows several lakes in eat Texas. Best I've seen on Palestine. I can remember some white-knuckled rides with him up north--and I can remember a write-up about him in the Dallas Morning News when(back in the early eighties) he caught over 80 pounds of bass in one day! He's low key, but man is he competitive.

I can't say enough about Gene and his ability to teach techniques. I live on Lake Fork and am pretty serious about fishing. Last year, Gene taught me to how to fish with a jig. It turns out the method I had been using will catch a fish or two and that is exactly the results I was getting. In ten minutes of instruction from Gene, I learned more than I had the previous 40 years. Three double digit bass this past winter is proof in the pudding. You can also learn a thing or two about fishing crankbaits and reading water.

Good job Rodney! Nothing like going over to Monty with old school and learning a few new tricks. Genes stii got it. My first trip of the year over there on Sunday.Hope to get on some good ones like ya'll did.

I'm convinced, Monti is the place to go!
