Ok take a look at the pictures of a part that I am wanting to replace in my Yamaha V200tlrx motor. It is a 200hp OX66 model. This part came out of one of the 3 fuel pump assemblies. Please take a guess at how much this part costs??? Keep in mind this is a plastic part that makes a krinkle and popping noise when it is bent. It is very thin and small. A part like this probably costs Yamaha about 1 to maybe 2 cents each to make. Of course this is a guess. They should sell it for maybe .99 cents each to us the consumers. I think something like this is fair. However, I about fell over when the dealer said they were $18.00 each. $18.00 DOLLARS!!!! Not .18cents but $18.00 each. Stuff like this is a joke to me. It just floors me that a company can do stuff like this. Sorry but I believe in making a buck and being profitable but this is way beyond that. This is just plain silly. The infamous $18.00 part. This infuriates me

Maybe its a part that they don't make that many of and it cost more to make it?

Ahhhh, the joys of luxury item ownership.

So I guess some of you find this acceptable. No biggie.
I realize there ain't nothing we can do about this. But there should be. This just isn't right.

I agree it's outrageous... it's just because of the replies you've gotten so far. Everyone just says it costs to play and ponies up the $$ without complaining.. If we all stopped overpaying the companies might change.. I doubt it.. but it's not working the wayy it's going now..

Perfect example of why I as a non-boater usually give the boater $50 when we go out on tourneys.

So how do we stop over paying??? Just not fix it and let it sit there??? If we did that how would they know there's a problem? You definitely can't tell the sales person you're only paying 1/4 of what the price is either! We're kind of at the manufacturer's mercy! Bad for us but good for them.

I BOUGHT A PART FOR MY YAMAHA EVERYDEALER I CHECKED WITH WAS THE SAME PRICE. I FOUND A PLACE IN FLORIDA SAVED ME 30.00. I THINK THE WEB SITE WAS IBOATS.COM. EVEN WITH SHIPPING IT CUT THE COST TOOK ABOUT 3-4 DAYS TO ARRIVE.

Don't even ask how much the HP fuel filters are for a HPDI.
All the saving in fuel economy gets eaten up in maintenence.

Its not that I find it acceptable, I've just learned to live with it. It's just like tackle, I know a Sammy doesn't cost near what I pay for one to make, or any of my rods. Because I love to fish, I just suck it up and go on.

You single out Yamaha like they are the only ones that do it. That is the farthest thing from the truth...go price a set of plugs for all 3 of the new DFI motors. You know going in that ALL boat & boat motor parts not just Yamaha are expensive. Be thankful that you can do the work yourself and save you some money. As for changing...we get overcharged for everything. From our baits, accessories, boats, motors, etc. If ya'll wanna start somewhere could you hit Congress up about the gas, talk about a ripoff jd_onair - boat maintenance isn't the no boaters responsiblity, it is nice of you to think about it but I don't think you should worry about maintenance. Gas, oil, ramp fees, lunch that is cool but maintenance is up to us boat owners. Most of us know what we are getting into when we buy a boat and yes they are at times expensive. You have to pay to play Keith...you need a float tube bud, but just watch the gators down there

the dreaded white fuel pump gaskets. The crazy thing is that the whole fuel pump assemblies were about the same price as the gaskets. changed mine a while back. I belive the new style will have a black gasket. yours are really shot by the way. mine didnt even have any noticeable holes in them.

Well thanks Judd for the nice words, but I feel I'm in the same boat (Pun intended) as the boater. It costs money for me to fish with someone who has a boat. On the other hand, when I went fishing with my buddy in his 12' flatbottom with a trolling motor, I didn't reimburse him for the electricity to fill the battery's. Wait,,,,,,,Should I have? LOL. Just trying to help out a bit so I will be one of the first ones asked back when that back seat does open. Trust me..... It does work, even if the boater refuses the money.
