Does this bass exist anywhere in Texas? Anyone caught one?

Yes. Seems like it is the number one fish put on the forum under "what is this" when someone catches one. I used to catch them in Ohio and we called them rock bass. Most folks I know here call them google eyes. Caddo is chock full of them. I'm pretty sure you catch go bass fishing there without catching a couple of them. I've also caught them in Lake O' the Pines and the Sabine River.

According to TPWD's website, a "Warmouth" is also called REDEYE, Goggle-eye, Red-eyed Bream, Stump Knocker, Mudgapper, Mo-mouth, Morgan, Molly, ROCK BASS, Open Mouth, Weed Bass, Wood Bass, Strawberry "perch", Mud Bass, Warmouth Bass

AquariumGuy - I guess it all depends on if you are looking for a fish called a red eye bass or a largemouth bass with red eyes. Look under TPWD's website and it has pictures of the different fish.

I guess common names can be a problem. Here is a picture and links describing the bass. Just not sure if found in Texas.

Yes Lake Buchannan has a good population of Red Eyed bass. Northeast end of the lake has two large creeks where we caught a bunch.

They call 'em rock bass up here, and many of the lakes around here are FULL of 'em. Including my local lake, in which I think they may outnumber the perch. They are very aggresive fish, and fun to catch on light gear, but when your trying to target smallies, or lmb, they can get pretty annoying. They will often attack baits almost their own size. Awsome way to keep kids entertained though, half of a roboworm on a light dropshot and they will catch 'em all day long.
