I've got an 84 Stratos with a 150 Mercury. I need to replace my steering system. I need 13' cables, my question....under my console I currently have two racks that connect to the wheel, but I can't seem to find a dual cable system with the two racks, it seems now they all have one rack. Do I need to keep looking or will this work? Thanks a lot guys.

Chiz, The cables you need are probably still available. What brand is your steering system?

I can't see the pics on the ebay site.
One of the cables has MORSE on it, Couldn't find anything on the other one. I don't mind changing systems, I's just curious if ya'll think that system would work. Thanks.

if you are going to change the whole system, helm and cables, i would go to a hydraulic system ..

I check on the ebay site again- there is no pic on the left, but if you go down to the bottom of the page ,its there...

kingdad, I can see the pics now, that is exactly what I need, at first I just saw the red X's. Thanks a lot for the info. I wish I could afford hydraulic, that would be nice, but this old boat is fixing to be replaced later this year, so don't wanna put too much in it ifin you know what I mean. Thanks again.

Update:

I was wrong about needing 13', actually I need 14' cables, currently I have two different brands of cables on there. One is a "Morse" and the other is "Detmar". Do I need both cables to be the same brand or does it matter as long as they fit and bolt up? Also I have no idea what brand the helm is, I can't find any markings on it, do the cables need to match the helm?
