My Elbow has been hurting all year, and now is killing me. Can't hardly lift my coffee cup out of the cupholder. How do you shake this tendonitis? Any advice?

It's officially called lateral epicondilytis -- http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001485/I had this problem several years ago. It's a cumulative problem. My orthopaedic specialist, who also fishes, offered three things to do: 1) Stop the action causing the pain, rest, use ice and anti-inflammatory meds and let it heal naturally. Use the wrap-around forearm brace for support. 2) Cortisone, which masks the pain for a few weeks so No. 1 can occur 3) Surgery if it's really bad. Mine wasn't bad enough for the latter two and I opted for the first one, scaled back my fishing and it went away. Check with your physician to get a good diagnosis and some exercises that can help.

I wear a copper bracelet with magnets. I am pain free. Started wearing them several years ago after the pain was getting unbearable.

Sorry to hear that.. I had to flat out back off fishing for a couple months, then ease back into it. It was hard, but winter time made it a little easier.. The joint and surrounding tissues need time to heal, plain and simple.
I tried all the wraps,cremes,bracelets,braces..etc.. After all that it was still unbearable, I made the decision to rest it and heal up.. It worked..

Rest it the only surefire way to heal. I have had the same problem on and off for several years. Ice, rest and antiinflammatories are the only solution once starts acting up.

Rest and Ice. Try spinning equipment,it changes the stress. Pitch it. You need to fish the lightest rods and reels you can afford. I have a doctor's note instructing me to fish only Steez/GLX combinations. Rest and ice, rest and ice.

Teach yourself to cast with the other arm, if this isn't possible try different casting technique's such as casting underhand, inside out etc., hope this works it worked for me. fish on!!!

I have changed my casting motion to keep my elbow very close or touching my side as I cast. This helps dramatically. I also wear a compression sleeve and that seems to help some. Not fishing is not an option. Good luck

Get a tennis elbow brace. Wear it 24/7. Ibuprofen. Cast two handed with more wrist, less elbow.
It may take months to heal.

Find a good acupuncturist. It is often very effective.
Life is short. Do what you like, like what you do.
