I have recently purchased a longer shaft for my hand controlled trolling motor. Is there any short cuts I need to know about before removing the head and motor off my old shaft. I would also like to make sure that righty tighty lefty loosey applies to the motor on this thing.

Number the wires in the head, using wire markers.

I just completely disassembled the head unit on my motorguide trolling motor ( i replaced the pinion nut and the case for the head ) and everything was as expected ( righty tighty ). Just go slow and remember the order of the parts. I had everything back together only to realize i had forgot to put a bearing back in, . I didn't mess with the motor part so I don't know how that works.

Thanks for your help.... I messed with it tonight and started bending the shaft from turning on it so hard. I think I'm going to take is somewhere and have them put it on.
