I am considering changing my 25 Tempest to something else; I am more interested in top end than hole shot.
What are you gus running now?
Thanks, KB

KB... What Rpm's are you turning at WOT if your turning on the high side of RPM range say 5600 to 5700 you could go up 2 pitches but if your are down around 5200 to 5300 your pretty much stuck because if you go up in pitch in this range you will be below the recommended RPM range which is 5000 to 5750 And if you what speed stay with a 3 blade......OPTI

The 25 tempest is probably the prop for you. I would think that you should be able to turn about 5500-5800 RPM's with that prop depending on how high it is set on the jackplate. The higher you go the more RPM's you should turn but watch the water pressure and don't let it go under 12psi. If you are able to turn 5800-5900 RPM's now then you may be able to turn a 27 Tempest 5400-5500 and that might get you a little more speed. Let us know what kind of RPM's your currently turning and if your water pressure is enough and maybe we can help more.

Thanks guys, definitely running on the high side (about 5700-5800 RPMs). Sounds like I might be able to go up some with the pitch but 27 might be pushing it a bit. What do you think?
Maybe I could find a prop shop that might let me try before I buy. Ok, more like buy and return if I want to try another. Will they do that sort of thing?

Some shops will let you try out a prop with a break it buy it policy. For 2" in pitch you ought to drop about 400 RPM's so you may be ok there. You probably want to run that motor no less than 5500 but still it sounds like you probably have it propped just about right as that motor does well around 5700-5800. If you can get a hold of a 26 or 27 prop to try it might be the ticket. If not I think you are probably in good shape with what you have right now.

Michael, I will give you a call next Monday (06/20).
I want to go out and run it again this weekend just to make sure I have the RPMs right.
Thanks, KB
