How do you rig a straight shank hook without either the hookpoint being exposed or the bait not being straight? Can't get it to work right.

practice???
there only used to be straight shanked hooks for t-rigging ect,
run the bait head throught the point of the hook, right after turn and push it out, now mark with your fingers the spot that the bottom of the shank is on the bait, this is where you want to re-enter witht he hook..

The biggest problem I see is the weight being kindof angled to the bait and not in a straight line. Or am I overthinking it?

??? Insert hook point, push through, turn, insert, expose then pit the tip back in...... You're overthinking bro.

Yea man, just rig it as you would a worm shank hook. The hook should be pointing down at about a 20 degree angle from parallel with the bottom of the bait. And don't worry about the weight being at a slight angle, sometimes that angle will help it crawl over sticks and rocks better.

I’ve been debating this for a while. Do you guys really see a improvement with the straight shank over the wide gap hooks?

For worms, yes on the straight shank. Larry Nixon and some guy named Kevin VanDam do, too.

I prefer the strait shank... worms don't last as long as it would on an offset, but as much money and time that I spend on gas, boat and other things, worms are cheap!

if you want it straight you need to adjust for bait size for example a yum dinger 4 inch can go onto a straight shank and be hooked through and bury the barb after coming through for weedless, if you want the hook exposed just worm it all the way straight on untill you get the desired length of bait you want hooked...oluse it also depends on whether or not the hook has a complete straight shank from eye to the bend of the hook its all about your preference tho
