Yup, I own about 15 of them that I use - and probably 5 more that I finally wore out. Started using them in 1979 shortly after Shimano introduced them through the Lew Childre Company. That opened the door for Shimano in the U.S.
You won't find a better reel, past or present. I prefer the BB1NH models which are high speed and the later models like the BB25. Most of mine have lasted about 15-20 years each, and I fish 30 plus weekends per year. Smooth as silk, simple design which palms nicely and is easy to repair if you need to, and enough torque to winch 'em out of the thick stuff.
Ebay is the best place to find the good ones now but they have become quite popular so expect to pay more than retail for a used one in good condition.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
Bill Shakespeare

the new ones are nothing but a repackaged quantum/zebco...they are nothing like the original speed spool which were some of the first low profile reels ever made & hard to find, I would just give up & buy a shimano (the makers of original speed spool)

Are you asking about the old models or the new models? I like both.

+1 I have 16 of the TP1SH and I can't find a thing wrong with them. I'm in love, I also have 3 of the TS1S for crank bait reels and they will throw a country mile and just as smooth as silk. If your in Paris, gimme a shout and we will take them out for a test fish, hehe

Not a repackaged anything. Far smoother than what Shimano has made lately. Local shop has put out nearly 100 so far and no returns. Every model I've looked at was amazing. They are the only reels I'd consider replacing all my low profiles with.

If the new ones last like the old ones it will be a fantastic little reel. Light weight and very smooth.
