Thats not a bad ideal. I just got threw dipping mine. Cant wait to get my second box Anchor hopefully tomorrow. Been using my fluck anchore out the back. Bout sick of that.

Here are some that I've made . The top
One is 14*14 the bottom is 12*12.I use the 14
To hold my 18ft boat down. And I've been out
on some ruff days and I never moved. I built
the 12*12 for a now show.So I'm going to
Try it out soon . I think it should do well. I've
made all mine out of 4inch flat strap 3/4 thick.As
far as beating up the boat I would go to
Tractor supply and buy a horse mat and cut
a section out of it. Then put it on the floor
were you going to put the anchor or get
a milk crate and put the anchor in it.
