I would call them again, gust-in-case they forgot about you.

Yamaha has finally made a decision, they are going to put a short block in it and re use the existing heads. We will see how this turns out.
Oh yes, I asked the Yamaha customer service dept. if he could expedite the order of the short block since my boat has been in the shop for 2 weeks waiting on them to make a decision on which direction to go.
His answer... NO!!!!!! They can not dictate when a part can be delivered. And they call this Yamaha Customer Service. I am not getting that warm fuzzy feeling from them.

At the price you paid for the engine as a consumer I would ask for a complete new power head. I know of several of the sho's that have blown between 50-100 hrs. They have not got it right yet. Carbon build up in a 2 stroke yes but in a 4 not hardly. The oil is not in the gas like a 2 stroke, and that is where most of the carbon comes from. I would be very upset if it were me.Do not let them jerk you around. Good Luck.

Marc that is what I asked for but Yamaha customer service as usual said NO !!!! Their customer service is falling way short of my expectations. I wish I could get hold of Ben Special, I was told he is in charge of customer service but the guy at Yamaha that I am talking to told me he does not have a boss to escalate this up to. Go figure.

I heard from Yamaha today. They said they would cover the cost of my next oil change. That makes me feel A WHOLE LOT BETTER.

What a bunch of c r a p. How about a motor exchange.I had a injector stop up one time on my Yamaha and they said a dirt dobber did it and it was not covered by warranty ! Now that is some c r a p ! Lots of reasons why I do not run a Yamaha. I did not see any better performance difference to make me change. I did try one once and I will stick with a Mercury ! From my understanding they are not helping the guys much on the tour either. I had one of the well known pro's tell me last year that the only time his sho runs is when it runs to the shop ! Good Luck !

I have a different engine and a mechanic told me the same thing, he said you got a 200 hp and you need to drive it wide open so the plugs will quit fouling. I told him if I had a corvette and didn't drive it 150 mph would the plugs foul on it? He just shook his head and walked away. They're times when you simply can't drive wide open.

This is a good case where "new technology" has to prove itself. Simular assues including "making oil" (thats why your service tech is telling you to run wide open more)were discovered with the 1st generation of Mercury's Verado. Customer service and tech support from both companys dont always give you the answer you want to hear or do the right thing in mosts eyes. Break in's, propping the boat correctly,(as pointed out by steve)and oil level is the most important.
Just my .2. Hope they get things straight and yo can get back on the water!
