Unless you are going to put a trolling motor on it I would pass. Bulky and very slow. You can find better kayaks.

Trolling motor comes with it. I'm pretty bulky myself (6' ~320lbs) so the 800lb capacity & wide profile is really appealing to me.

Well then go for it? you asked for opinions and shot the first one down like it was nothing and came back with "well I like it" So if you like it buy it!

Not trying to shoot anyone down, just trying to explain why I am interested in a bigger sized kayak (my fat azzed self). Should have given a little more detail in my original post I guess...

Caption, Don't listen to some of these guys...they are grouchy I personally don't know anything about that model but if you can get a deal on it and the trolling motor fits your style of fishing then I think it would be a good fit. Good luck and let us know what you do.

At 6 ft and 300 lbs the last thing I'd suggest is a trolling motor.
Get the slow bulky yak, one decent paddle and go on long long trips gol dang it !!!!!
A year from now, you'll be glad you did.
Personally I've always liked the Brazos below Whitney on low flow days, the walking you do, dragging a boat, in ankle deep water, combined with the paddling... now there's a long days work, working out, having fun.
Anyone else here who likes that part ?
Last edited by StevenNDallas; 11/08/11 11:23 PM. Reason: chicks dig the part about 'liking that part'
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

I'm close to the same situation as you Captaininsane-0. 6' 280. I tested a FeelFree Moken 10 that can handle 440lbs. I order it, but after 4 weeks of waiting I cancel. I decided to get the 2012 Wilderness Ride 115. This one can handle 500lbs. I'm glad I did change, as this boat has more storage places and it is nicer. For an extra $200 it was probably a good decision. Go with the yak tha you feel confortable.

dbraune: I just stumbled across this one on the Swap Shop at work.
Steve: Umm, thanks for channeling Jillian Michaels... I'm already on the way down.
mpg2: Thanks for the feedback. Hoping to pick this thing up & have it in the water by Saturday!

there are plenty of BIGMAN kayaks out there. Just get something over a 500lbs weight limit. My ocean kayak trident 15 is awesome for my 275lbs of pure muscle!
I dont consider the ambush a kayak. You might as well get a jonboat.
