I need your guys opinion on brush piles. If you set a new one out how long do think it takes for fish to attract to it? Then how long do you think it takes for the bigger fish to hold on it? I have an idea just wanted to see what majority of people think. Thanks ahead of time and God bless.

I've never dropped my own brush pile but I'm sure it depends on where you put it. Would it be on or near by structure? Does the area already hold some fish? You put it in area that already has some structure, a good habitat and ecosystem I bet it'd take off pretty quick. However if you put in an area that has no other reason to hold any fish it would probably take a long time.

If its in a good location, it can hold fish in a matter of a day or two. A brushpile is best when it is put where fish already like to hang out. It just gives added cover for the forage in the area and also added cover for the bass.

Yes,+1 on a spot that attracts fish already.I prefer to fish everyone elses brush piles though.Less work for me.. lol.

Careful... people will think brushpiles might give you an unfair advantage and then they'll change the rules!

Years ago I put a few out a few and I remember catching fish off of one of them just 2 hrs after putting it in. Location is key for sure. Depth would be another thing and type of wood. I never used cedar always a hard wood of some sort.Willows do good but do not last long.The other thing is what time of year do you plan on it holding fish to catch off of ? That goes back to the depth/location.

Yeah there should be a rule saying that you can't fish a brush pile during tourney hours that isn't clearly marked by eaither a Duck Decoy or a White gallon jug tied directly to the middle of the pile. Should be a poly question.. LOL

Dropping brush piles on already productive spots can ruin a spot too.

I'm not sure exactly but my guess would be that your covering a bottom transition or a depth change they are relating to.

Have dropped several piles and it is a magnet right away for approx 2 weeks. Then the leaves are starting to rot and we wait approx 4 to 6 weeks before trying again for that pile. Has been that way for years.

Yea, I've done that before. You can move the brush off the point or drain and the spot goes back to being good again.

it re-postions the baitfish and changes the sweet spot.

Thanks for the info guys. So I seen that depth is dependent on time of year you plan to fish it. So what would you guys say for each time of year would be good depths?
