I was reading that the lake has been stocked with striper and hybrids but I never hear of anyone catching either. I wonder why?

Never caught a hybrid there but I have caught a few stripers in previous years. Caught one last year that was just under 18, but didn't catch any this year. Stripers don't seem to have done well and the hybrids that were stocked are long gone. Looks like they gave up on the pure stripers, sure would like to have some football hybrids to go after tho...

Yaffe, We've caught several stripers in Lavon over the years, biggest going about 5 lbs over by the dam while tearing up the sandies. Most of them have been much smaller though. They are in there but not abundant like the sand bass. As for Hybrids, I don't think I have ever caught one in there but my brother swears he did years ago. I know they stocked Lavon w/ hybrids in the 70's but came up with the idea that they did not fair well after just 2 very small stockings (compared to other area lakes). Personally I do not believe they gave it a very good shot since they do fine in Hubbard & Lewisville. I went back & forth with Bruce Hysmith from the TPWD a year or so ago about it & I think I posted the conversation on here. Bruce was very kind to provide alot of data but it doesn't sound like they will be giving it another try any time soon. Kind of irritates me that Lavon doesn't get the attention compared to other area lakes. Maybe someday they will.

I agree John, Seems like the only thing they worry about lavon for is watering yards

I agree....doesn't look like they tried very hard to get them to take...Maybe someday they will try stocking again. I would take some of the pressure off other lakes
